Could these be used as a Turntable main bearing?

If it was immersed in oil all the time, it might work.
You would need a stable high torque motor. At least needle drag would be a non issue since its swamped by the drag.

My Versa Dynamics TT uses a similiar slightly different approach, hardened steel on a ceramic disc using a special fluorocarbon grease (NYE). No platter wobble and high drag consistancy

And what attracted you to that particular bearing? The ability to sustain a 1 tonne platter?

Poor tolerance, poor concentricity, likely very high noise.

Just curious. Look similar to air bearings in design.

Large diameter although increases surface area would increase stability.

Forget it and stick to the standard?
