An update on the combined spray can Rustoleum Black Hammered / Rustoleum Black Metallic combination:

The way to get a consistent sheen across the whole surface is to spray the Hammered finish on and then after only a few seconds delay, spray on the metallic paint so that they mix a bit when wet. Try to do this all at once and avoid tweeking a few minutes later. It is much better to tweak a spot after fully dry.

It works best if the Metallic is sprayed from about 14 inches away to get a bit of a "dryer" spray.

This technic works best on horizontal surfaces. It hides seams well compared to normal paint.

Give it a try on a primed board. You will get a dark grey tectured finish with a bit of subtle sparkle close up.

If the goal is even distribution across a wide area (including various depths), subwoofers only on the front wall will likely not accomplish this as there will still be peaks and valleys in the room due to room resonances.....
By "wall-to-wall" I meant literally covering the wall left-to-right and top-to-bottom, so that people might think you're heavily into Sci-Fi before realizing that they're looking at a wall of speakers. Saying that this would reduce resonances to one dimension only would be inaccurate because of corner-loading effects, but I can't be bothered thinking about it more accurately.

A practical solution that's often overlooked is lifting the subwoofer/s off the floor and onto speaker-stands. Or you could positions multiple subwoofers at several different heights. People often say to move a subwoofer away from walls and corners, but - in a really abstract kinda way - the floor is like a wall that's been rotated by 90 degrees. :clown:

Playing with the room mode calculator it appears for a room with an 8" ceiling there will be a drop off at 71Hz at a height of 4 ft. So depending where your sub crosses over this could be an issue.

Raising the woofer would seem like an appropriate thing to try given the analogous methods when trying to overcome room modes caused by width and height.
